RM - Greetings

Friday

Got my Tunguska story nearly wrapped up! Finally. Took Tempest's advice and just forced myself into NaNoWriMo mode and just sat down and did it. Quite pleased with the results. One more Sha'daa' story to edit before April 15th and then I can get back to novel. Yeah!! I'm itching to work on the novel. The desire to work on it seems to grow in proportion to the obstacles preventing me from getting to it.

And my "Orphan" story is getting blushingly good reviews on the WNRC message board. Didn't expect that. Very cool.

Can't wait for work to end so I can get back to editing. Just a final read-through left and the normal tightening of sloppy language.

And I'm fencing on Sunday! All right! Too bad I've been so lazy with my footwork these past months. I'm going to be like a slug with a pointy stick. And it means I'll also be sore come Monday. Ah well, fencing is worth it.

DVD Commentary insight

Some DVD audio commentary is interesting, some is a complete waste of time. Just depends upon the person doing the yakking. Combat! has some commentary on a few episodes (never the ones I want commentary on, of course). Just watched one at lunch today, and one thing director Ted Post said stuck with me. He said he always tried to shoot the subtext, not the words the actors were saying. Boy, did that resonate with me and with how I write. THat is what I try to do, I just never had words for it until I could steal them from someone else. Different methods, obviously, paper and words vs. film, but same concept.

Walks in the snow are the best!

It was so neat outside walking while it was snowing, that after the 2 mile loop, I added on another mile loop out through the forest. Couldn't bear to go home yet where it'd be dark and dreary inside. Outside, it's ALIVE. Just me, the two dogs, the pine trees, the grey sky, and the snow coming down. We ran for awhile - not necessarily a sane thing to do when the ground is under six inches of snow and you can't tell what's lurking under that white blanket, but Max loved it. We were all coated in a layer or two of snow by the time we got home.

Off to write!
